Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of promoting pre-task planning on EFL students’ performance in monologic task. The research is conducted within the Department of English language at Mohamed-Cherif Messaadia university, in Souk-Ahras. The study is conducted using mixed method to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. A pre-experimental design is adopted, and the study is carried out in the academic year 2023/2024. Twenty-three first year EFL students participated in this study. They carried out a monologic narrative task under no-planning time and under ten-minute pre-task planning. The quantitative data is collected using experiment, while the qualitative data obtained through using classroom observation. The study findings show after promoting first year EFL students ten-minute pre-task planning there is significant improvement in their monologic speech, indicating an improvement in fluency and accuracy.
