As part of enhancing scientific cooperation and joint supervision of the doctoral thesis between Souk Ahras University and Tunis El Manar University, on December 3, 2025, the professors participated:

From the Faculty of Nature and Life Sciences – Souk Ahras University, in the proceedings of the doctoral thesis defence committee in biological sciences, upon an official invitation from Al-Manar University – Faculty of Sciences in Tunis.
The researcher Gahria Ines, a Master’s graduate from the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences at Souk Ahras University, presented her thesis titled:
“Characterisation of antimicrobials and β-lactamase inhibitors produced by actinobacteria”
🟦 The discussion session was distinguished by a high scientific level and rich academic discussions, reflecting the professors’ expertise and the strength of the partnership between the two universities. The committee praised the quality of the thesis and awarded the researcher a “Very Good” distinction, along with congratulations from all members.
🟩 We are also proud to mention that the research results of the researcher have been published in an international journal classified as A+ by Springer Nature Publishing House, which reflects the value of the work and its scientific extension.

As part of the activities of the Food Science Department at the Faculty of Nature and Life Sciences at Souk Ahras University, a workshop titled “Quality Control and Fraud Prevention: Challenges and Field Practices” was held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the incubator’s lecture hall at nine in the morning, benefiting second and third-year undergraduate Food Science students.
Under the supervision of the Department of Food Science, in coordination with the Institutional Liaison Office and the Business Incubator of Souk Ahras University, and the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, and in the presence of many specialists and field experts in the field of quality control, fraud prevention, and consumer protection.
The workshop was officially opened with an inaugural speech by the Deputy Director for Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Haouam Lynda, on behalf of the University Director.
Followed by a speech from Mr. Belkadi Wahid, Director of the Liaison Office with Institutions.
Then a speech by Mr. Saoudi Boudjemaa, Head of the Food Science Department.
With the participation of Dr. Khacha Najet, the initiator, and the supervision of Dr. Gherairia Nesrine, head of the Food Science branch.
The participants in the workshop from the social partners:

• Mr. Ben Chaaban Mustafa, Director of the Quality Control and Fraud Prevention Laboratory for the Souk Ahras Province.
• Ms. Aissaoui Saida – Former Head of the Anti-Fraud Department, Certified Expert in Quality and Quality Control.
• Mr. Rawinia Mohamed Youssef – Chief Inspector for Fraud Prevention.
• Mr. Sassi Ammar – Principal Professor at the Specialised Institute for Vocational Training, and Head of the Quality Control Laboratory at the institute.
  -Representatives of consumer protection associations such as:
  (Algerian Organisation for Consumer Protection and its Environment Apoce Souk Ahras
  Represented by the organization’s member for the Souk Ahras office, Professor Saadi Boujemaa.
  , and the Algerian Organisation for Consumer Protection “Your Protection”
  Represented by the head of the organization’s scientific council, Dr Khacha Najet.
  The main objectives of the workshop were:
  -Introducing students to the regulations and laws governing quality control and consumer protection.
  -Enhancing students’ knowledge about methods for detecting food fraud.
  -Enabling students to understand the stages of food product control from production to marketing.
  -Understanding the role of laboratory analyses in verifying quality and determining product compliance.
  The workshop concluded with a roundtable discussion featuring fruitful exchanges among various participants and trained students, where everyone appreciated the organisation of such workshops due to their scientific and educational importance for the students.
  The workshop concluded with the signing of a framework cooperation agreement between the university liaison office and the Quality Control and Fraud Prevention Laboratory of Souk Ahras Province.
