Learning Objectives The animal-related courses taught in this section aim to provide students with the necessary foundations for understanding animal nutrition and feeding. Therefore, by the end of this module, students should be able to:

• Understand the processes and efficiency of food digestion. • Understand the fate of the main nutrients within the animal body: water, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, minerals (including trace elements), and vitamins. • Understand the origin of the various needs of animals, the importance of meeting these needs through the general consequences of imbalances, and their units of expression. • Understand how to calculate the nutritional value of feed for the main domestic animals. The sections on plant-based nutrition aim to 

provide students with the common foundations for all plant production.
