Abstract
Mastering speaking skills in English as a foreign language (EFL) remains a significant challenge for learners, necessitating focused pedagogical approaches. Accordingly, the main aim of this study is to explore the importance of oral presentations as a technique to enhance first year students’ speaking skills. Moreover, it attempts to identify EFL students’ attitudes towards the use of oral presentations in improving students’ speaking skills. To address these objectives, a descriptive, exploratory research design is used. The study involves non-participant observation across eight sessions and structured questionnaire to assess students’ attitudes towards oral presentations. The targeted population comprises 219 first-year students, with a sample of 60 students representing over 30% of the total population. The obtained results indicate positive attitudes towards oral presentations as a means of improving speaking skills among EFL students. It is found that regular engagement in oral presentations can significantly enhance students’ speaking proficiency, offering valuable insights for EFL pedagogy and curriculum development
