Call for Nominations for the 2026 UNESCO/Juan Bosch Prize

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announces the opening of nominations for the 2026 UNESCO/Juan Bosch Prize, dedicated to promoting research in the social and human sciences in Latin America and the Caribbean. The prize aims to recognize outstanding young researchers in the field of social development policies.

Key Information About the Prize:

  • The prize is funded by the Government of the Dominican Republic.
  • The prize amount is USD 12,000, awarded to the author or co-authors of the winning thesis.
  • Eligible researchers must be under 40 years of age.
  • Research must be related to positive social transformations in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Each nomination file must include a written recommendation highlighting the candidate’s academic background, achievements, and work demonstrating their contribution to social transformations in the region.

Nomination Procedures and Modalities:

  • Nominations must be submitted exclusively through the Algerian National Commission for UNESCO.
  • The Directorate of Cooperation and University Exchange is responsible for forwarding nomination files to the National Commission.
  • The deadline for submission is 15 February 2026.
  • Applications submitted directly by individual candidates will not be accepted.
