I am pleased to inform you that we have received a message from our Consulate in Addis Ababa informing us that the African Union Commission (AUC) organized an online meeting on July 24, 2025, to launch the African Think Tank Platform (ATTP), which aims to support and strengthen African think tanks and their contributions to evidence-based policymaking across the continent.
As a reminder, the ATTP is an initiative launched in partnership with the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and the AU Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) and will be endowed with a USD 50 million fund, with funding from the World Bank (WB), to finance projects in the areas of economic transformation and governance, climate change, regional trade, food security, human capital development, and digitalization.
It should be noted that the Vice-President of the AU Commission, Ambassador Selma Malika HADDADI, officially launched this Platform. In this regard, she emphasized the AU’s commitment to supporting and strengthening the role of African think tanks and their contributions to various AU policies and strategies, thus contributing to the achievement of the aspirations of Agenda 2063.
The Commission invited think tanks interested in funding under this initiative to submit their projects by September 24, 2025.
The submission procedures and eligibility criteria are available on the Platform’s (ATTP) website as follows: https://africathinktankplatform.africa/callforproposal
To participate, I would be grateful if you would take steps to invite professors and/or permanent researchers, and members of thematic or other networks, to consult the call and send us the list of proposals, once submitted online, by email to prg.coopr@mesrs.dz.
