Abstract

This paper discusses a debate between two paradigms. The first one conceives economic globalization, based on a huge market without frontiers and new technology of information, as an alienation of individuals, so it changes their culture. The second one, is a paradigm which perceives globalization as means of emancipation, arguing that globalization is not necessarily passive adherence of individuals to the cultural model, coming from foreign countries, but it could help a myriad of ethnic communities and different cultures to emancipate and to be recognized in their specific particularities. Furthermore, recognition could help individuals and communities to eschew conflicts.
