Abstract
In this study we looked at the assessment of the impact of ZnO-based nanoparticles and their effects on a plant species case of durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum).
The effect of ZnO is evaluated in three varieties of wheat (Boussallem, Gtadur and Ouarsenis), the three varieties are represented by V1, V2and V3 thanks to a range of developmental, physiological and biochemical parameters realized in the laboratory. The selected varieties were exposed to increasing concentrations of ZnO nanoparticles (0.01mg/ml, 0.05mg/ml, 0.1mg/ml, 0.5mg/ml).
The results show that the presence of ZnO-based Nps can exert a stimulating and inhibitory effect depending on the concentration effect and the endpoint studied, which shows that with the exception of a decrease in root elongation: high concentration effect and a reduction in chlorophyll levels (Chlo a, Chlo b) induced by exposure to low concentrations; It can be argued that the development of wheat seedlings was not greatly affected by the presence of ZnO Nps in their experimental medium sometimes even it caused a stimulating effect (increase in the percentage of germination).
Similarly, their presence caused oxidative stress resulting in the accumulation of Lipoperoxydes (MDA) recorded in all varieties studied following exposure to different concentrations.
On the other hand, a varietal effect contributed greatly to the variation of the remaining ROS-related parameters (carotenoids, APx and CAT).
Keywords: nanoparticles, oxidizing Stress, varieties, ZnO; plant species.
