Abstract
In order to evaluate the avian wealth and the knowledge of the phenological status of the different avian species frequenting the urban wetlands of northeastern Algeria, and to characterize the bacteriological and physico-chemical quality of the water, its level of degradation and the causes of these disturbances, we made monthly visits to the study area (Boussedra lack (Annaba) & Tamlouka pond (Guelma)) during an annual cycle from September 2015 to August 2016.
The results of the bacteriological analyzes expose us to a fecal contamination of the waters noted by a strong bacteriological pollution reported by the presence of a high degree in total germs, total coliforms, fecal coliforms and fecal streptococci. The result of physico-chemical analyzes also show that some parameters exceed the standards.
From the avian wealth point of view, 53 species belonging to 15 families have been recorded in Boussedra, and 36 species belonging to 12 families at the Tamlouka pond where the winter period is more diversified than the nesting period. The highest values of ecological indices indicating population equilibrium (Shannon and Weaver index and equitability index) were recorded during the winter period, (H = 3.62 and E = 0.666) at marsh level. Boussedra and (H '= 2.951 and E = 0.601) at the Tamlouka pond. During this period, the stand is more balanced because the body of water has been frequented by a maximum number of species with an overall equivalent population.
Key words: Urban wetland, water quality, aquatic birds, phenological status, ecological indices.
