Abstract :
Food contact packaging materials play an essential role in food preservation and its protection. They are also characterized by constant innovation such as the development of active and intelligent materials. This study aims to highlight a possible migration of several minerals from water to PET bottles. Experiments were carried out under different conditions: from 30, 60 and 90 days as aging time different temperatures: 25, 35 and 45 ° C, exposed or not to light (sun light) and by using different types of bottles and different types of water. The effect of time parameters on the tranfert of mineral elements such as Na, K, Ca, Mg and lead Pb is greater for temperatures between 45 and 35 ° C is greater than for 25 ° C. At the same time, the concentration of each element (Na, K, Ca, Mg) in water decreases with increasing temperature. The physicochemical characterization of the polymer material (Polyethylene terephthalate) was carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD), White light interferometry (WLB), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), while the analysis of the water was carried out by measuring the total organic carbon (TOC) as well as the assay (Ca, Mg, Na, k, Pb) in water by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The results obtained show that Analysis by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) After 90 days, the amount of Ca decreases significantly from 67.1, 50.20 and 25.06 (mg / l) to [25, 35 and 45] ° C respectively. After 90 days, the amount of Pb was also increased by 0.17, 0.21 and 0.35 (mg / l) at 25, 35 and 45 ° C respectively. The TOC concentration gradually increases in the water. mineral as the temperature increases which is argued by FTIR analysis proving the existence of compounds (Organic Carbon) from the PET bottle constituents to water. The results of XRD analysis indicate that the minerals were successfully implanted into the surface of the PET, so white light interferometry (WLI) proves this suggesting that the hydrophilic property of the modified PET is improved.
