Abstract
Abstract
This work was devoted to the elimination of malachite green (VM) and hexavalent chromium Cr(VI) using a biomaterial the shells of sunflower seeds (CGT). . The sample was characterized by different analysis techniques: XRF, DRX, IR and SEM. It was found that the CGT has a semi-amorphous, porous and lignocellulosic nature morphology. The adsorption tests were carried out under static conditions. For the determination of VM and Cr(VI), molecular absorption spectrophotometry (UV-Vis) was used as an analytical method. The study of the influence of physico-chemical parameters such as the pH of the solution, the mass, the initial concentration and temperature, made it possible to determine the contact time which is equal to 60 minutes with an elimination efficiency of 99%, for an initial concentration of 20 ppm of VM and Cr(VI). Several kinetic models including pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second were used. In addition, equilibrium data were applied to Langmuir and Freundlich models. Adsorption has been well described by the pseudo-second order kinetic model for VM and Cr(VI). The adsorption isotherm of VM on CGT obeys the Freundlich model on the other hand it obeys the Langmuir model for Cr(VI).
