Abstract
E-governments seek to bridge the digital divide at a time when banking institutions need to build a comprehensive picture of the market and think about how to prepare for the impact that digital technology has had on banking operations, leading to transfers to traditional jobs and significant gains in revenues. The high cost of operating traditional branch networks has prevented banks from serving less profitable customer segments, including lower income groups focused on financial inclusion. As such, banks have been slow to adapt their digital innovations that are helping some new entrants access these sectors at lower cost.
This study aims to provide a convincing example of how the Algerian Bank for Local Development is leveraging digital technology to reach excluded customer segments with useful and affordable products through its core product range that meets basic financial needs, adds convincing value to customers and improves their lives. In order to achieve the goal of the study, we will use the case study method to measure the level of actual contribution of the e-government program in Algeria to improving banking services for the clients of the Algerian Bank for Local Development.
Key words: e-government, administrative reform, digital divide, electronic banking services, Algerian Bank for Local Development.
