Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study is based on the flora inventory of Wadi El-Sharif (Fum El-Khanja) wetlands (Souk-Ahras, northeastern Algeria) based on a quantitative and qualitative analysis of plants through important criteria. In order to show the importance of the plant diversity of these wetlands , and to analyze the main factors affecting the vegetation cover in this area. For this, five stations (05) were chosen by being the subject of phytoecological surveys for a period extending from December 2018 to November 2019, monthly for an inventory and sampling for each station. In addition, the main physical-chemical parameters of the water (T°, RS, pH, dissolved O2, BOD, COD, M.O, NH4+, NO2-, NO3-, PO43-), soil (pH, N, C) as well as the granular analysis of soil. We also noticed a similarity in the temperatures recorded in the stations. On the other hand, salinity is maximum in winter in all stations and minimum during spring period. However, the mean seasonal pH is constant and moderate to basic in all stations. We also discovered a temporal and spatial fluctuation in the rate of dissolved oxygen in the studied stations. Moreover, the concentration of DBO is at its maximum during the summer period. However, the highest values of organic matter were recorded during the autumn period and the lowest values during the spring period. On the other hand, the study of the spatial variability of the physical and chemical properties of the soil revealed a generally very low electrical conductivity value at all stations, and an alkaline pH in all stations at all depths N. Nevertheless; We observe a stable C/N ratio at all stations as well as depths, with a decrease in salinity, nitrogen (N) and orthophosphate content. Nitrite and nitrate with depth at most stations.
Granular analysis enabled us to observe that the proportions of fine sand are approximately the same at most stations and at all depths. However, the proportions of coarse sand vary from station to station and depth to depth. On the other hand, clay measurements show low levels compared to other components.
In all stations, 81 plant species belonging to 27 orders and 31 families were identified. However, Astral’s are the most widespread with 23 species.
Statistical analysis of the data explained the influence of physical and chemical factors of water and soil on the density of aquatic and terrestrial plants.
