Abstract
This dissertation explores the perceptions of third-year English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students at Mohamed Cherif Messaadia University in Souk-Ahras regarding their receptive language skills. The study focuses on students\' perspectives on the development, challenges, and strategies related to listening and reading in language learning. The research utilizes a mixed methods approach, including a web-based questionnaire administered to 55 conveniently chosen students from the Department of Foreign Languages and an in-depth interview with 4 EFL teachers from the same department. The findings contribute to the existing literature by highlighting specific challenges and strategies in developing receptive skills and examining students\' attitudes toward the importance of these skills in their English learning journey. The study aims to provide recommendations for educators and curriculum designers to enhance the teaching and learning of receptive skills based on the data collected. The research holds significance for EFL education at Mohamed Cherif Messaadia University by informing pedagogical practices and curriculum development
