Abstract
The present chapter aims to investigate the role of critical language awareness in promoting
EFL teachers’ and learners’ attitudes and views in the department of English language at
Mohamed Cherif Messadia University, in Souk Ahras. To test the main hypothesis that
suggests the possibility of implementing CLA activities and aspects to enrich active and
positive learning in EFL classrooms and that CLA has a significant role in enhancing EFL
teachers and learners attitudes .Two instruments were used: students\' questionnaire and
teachers’ interviews. The students’ questionnaire was provided to third-year LMD students,
and the teachers’ interview was conducted with five EFL teachers from different modules. The
gathered data has illustrated how critical language awareness has an essential role to foster and
may upgrade teachers’ and learners’ attitudes. Also, the result shows that there is a possibility
of implementing CLA in EFL classrooms. Teachers and learners agreed that CLA is important
and have positive attitudes toward it in the learning process because it raises both teachers and
learners awareness and makes learners more autonomous and conscious of their learning. It
ends up with the same suggestions for both teachers and learners about the importance of
adopting and integrating CLA aspects in teaching learners.
