Abstract

This study aims to highlight the value of circle time ideas in teaching and learning English in primary schools. Since circle time is an unfamiliar approach in the field of teaching foreign languages, this exploratory and descriptive study used mixed methods to acquire quantitative and qualitative data, including triangulation. There were three main instruments used. First, a sixteen-item questionnaire was distributed to 20 EFL students at Elmostakbale private primary school in Souk-Ahras. Second, an extensive, semi-structured interview was performed with an EFL teacher. Finally, three sessions of non-participant observation with 20 EFL students were carried out in English courses during the third semester (2023). The findings showed that using circle time activities in foreign language teaching and learning enhances students\' communication abilities and helps teachers address challenging problems. On the basis of these results, the hypothesis was confirmed. This study suggests that public schools should consider using this strategy gradually to promote pupils’ achievement.
