Abstract

The study explores the perceptions of EFL learners and teachers towards the use of Grammarly as an online writing assistant to enhance students\' spelling accuracy. It also investigates the extent to which Grammarly software can improve master one EFL students’ spelling accuracy. The study adopted an exploratory research design, in which two data gathering instruments were used, namely a questionnaire to 45 master one students, and an interview with ten (10) conveniently selected EFL teachers. Besides, it utilized a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data analysis. The findings revealed that both master one EFL students and teachers hold positive perspectives towards the use of Grammarly online writing assistant in improving learners\' spelling accuracy in writing. Moreover, it is observed that the use of Grammarly software can significantly enhance learners\' spelling accuracy to a high degree, confirming the research hypotheses. Some recommendations are made for the effective implementation of Grammarly in language teaching and learning contexts, aiming to optimize students\' spelling acuracy and overall writing skills.
