Abstract
Abstract
Teaching materials play a crucial role in education, with textbooks remaining central despite technological advancements. In Algeria, English Language Textbooks for middle school have evolved significantly, culminating in the \"My Book of English Year 4\" under the Second-Generation Program (SGP) in 2019. This study aims to assess the textbook\'s effectiveness and suitability for middle school students. Hypotheses suggest that alignment with checklist criteria and positive perceptions from educators indicate effectiveness. The research adopts a mixed-method approach, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods. Data collection involves a questionnaire administered to thirty-two teachers and content analysis using an adapted checklist. Results suggest the textbook aligns well with criteria and receives positive feedback from educators, indicating its effectiveness in facilitating English language learning. Recommendations for optimizing textbook use are provided to enhance teaching and learning outcomes in Algerian middle schools
