Abstract
This study examines the role of virtual language learning in promoting cultural sensitivity and understanding among second year English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students at Mohamed Cherif Messadia University in Souk Ahras. The study focuses on students’ perspective and experiences regarding the benefits and challenges of virtual language learning environments in fostering cultural awareness. A mixed methods approach is utilized, involving a questionnaire administrated to 32 EFL students chose randomly from total of 107 students and in-depth semi-structured interviews with five (5) EFL teachers. The results provide insights into how virtual language learning influences students’ cultural sensitivity, underscoring the importance of integrating cultural elements into language education. The study offers recommendation for educators and curriculum designers to better leverage virtual learning platforms to improve cultural understanding. This research enriches the field of EFL education by emphasizing the crucial role cultural sensitivity in virtual language learning and its implications for enhancing teaching practices and curriculum design at Mohamed cherif Meassadia University.
