Call for Nominations
The 2016 Algerian Paper of the Year Awards
Producing scientific work that pushes the boundaries of science is an intensive process that requires rigorous planning, hard work, commitment and creativity as well as a scientific culture that supports these efforts. Recognising and celebrating contributions that advance scientific knowledge are therefore essential to nurturing and maintaining successful research environments. To this end, anasr.org is launching the fourth edition of the Algerian Paper of the Year Awards, an annual award to recognise and celebrate scientific publications across the following research disciplines:
- Biological Sciences
- Computer Science & Engineering
- Medicine, Pharmacy & Veterinary Sciences
- Physical Sciences and Mathematics
- Chemical Sciences
One paper from each research discipline will be chosen to receive the The Algerian Paper of the Year Award in that particular discipline.
Eligibility Criteria
Submissions for the awards are open to all papers that satisfy the following criteria:
- The bulk of the published work must have been carried out in an Algerian university or research organisation.
- Papers must have been published in a peer reviewed journal, magazine or proceedings between the 1 of January 2015 and the 31st of December 2015.
- Papers must report original research and must not be review papers or book chapters
Additionally, papers containing work performed in collaboration with organisations outside of Algeria are also accepted.
Submission Guidelines
Papers should be submitted electronically as an email attachment sent to awards@anasr.org, the email should state:
- The category of nomination (Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, etc.)
- The title of the journal, magazine or proceedings where the paper has been published
- The list of authors and the primary contact for future correspondences
Papers can be submitted by their authors or nominated by other individuals not listed as authors on the submitted paper.Additionally, we will only accept one paper per nomination, so please submit a single paper, participants are encourage to choose their best publication and send this to us. Participants can nominate more than one paper only if it is nominated in a different category; please make this clear in the nomination email.
Selection Process
The Awards Committee will short list promising papers from the set of papers submitted to each research discipline. Each paper will then be reviewed by a panel of international experts who will judge the merit of each paper based scientific excellence, originality and impact. The panel of experts will be chosen based on the specialism of the papers received and will be announced at a later date.
Important Dates
- Paper submissions and nominations closing date: 1st of February 2016
- Shortlisting by the Awards Committee: 1st of March 2016
- Expert panel reviews: March to April 2016
- Winners announcement starts from 16th of April 2016 and thereafter
Awards
The laureates will be awarded a commemoration plaque bearing the name of the authors, the paper’s title and the year of the award. Additionally, each author on the paper will receive an award certificate. The winners from each discipline will also be given the excellent opportunity to be featured in an exclusive interview on Inspire Magazine.

Your work will be judged by high caliber experts in your field of research from renowned universities and so will benefit from a constructive reviewing process. An article about all the finalists will appear on Inspire Magazine and the potential interviews will further promote the work of the awards laureates to national and international readership, therefore increasing the recognition and visibility of their work, its impact, and open up avenues for potential collaborations with peers from around the world.
