Résumé

Writing in a foreign language is one of the most difficult and complex tasks for language learners. It is a complicated skill that requires great effort and practice by the learner and needs specific strategies by the teacher to achieve an acceptable level of it. Because of this complexity, many students face many difficulties and make a great deal of different types of errors to produce pieces of writing. Accordingly, the present study aims to explore both students and teachers attitudes towards the impact of rewards in boosting the writing skill. In other words, it aims at showing the effectiveness of the use of rewards to motivate learners in order enhance their writing abilities. To achieve the aforementioned goals, the current study adopted a descriptive exploratory approach using two questionnaires. The first is delivered to teachers whereas, the second is administrated to second year pupils at Djaber Ben Hayen secondary school in Soukahras. The results of the investigation have shown that pupils generally displayed an increase in their motivation under reward conditions. This positive outcome reflects the efficacy of integrating the reward as an extrinsic motivational tool to improve students\' abilities in writing classes. Based on the obtained results, the hypotheses are confirmed.
