The year 2024 witnessed intensive efforts by Souk Ahras University, which collaborated with the university’s preventive medicine units and university residences to establish partnerships with health institutions, in an effort to promote the health and well-being of the university community members.
The agreement is valid for 5 years.
3.3.2. Health outreach programmes
Local and student institutions implement awareness programs aimed at promoting health and well-being in the community by raising awareness about the importance of personal hygiene, proper nutrition, physical exercise, and family planning. These efforts also include campaigns directed at displaced and refugee communities to enhance health awareness and prevent diseases. Students, volunteers, and medical staff participate in these initiatives, contributing to the reinforcement of healthy behavior. The organizing university affirms the continuation of these programs to include various segments of society in pursuit of a healthy and sustainable life.

for students
Souk Ahras University has specialized preventive medicine units dedicated to providing sexual and reproductive health care services for male and female students, as part of its commitment to ensuring a healthy and safe university environment. These services include medical consultations and health guidance, in addition to awareness and education programs covering various aspects related to general and mental health. These units seek to promote health awareness among students and equip them with the essential information needed to maintain their physical and mental well-being, making them a key pillar in the comprehensive university care system.
3.3.5. Mental health support for students
The university gives increasing attention to mental health issues among students, recognizing their importance in achieving psychological balance and academic success. In this context, the university has launched specialized programs aimed at enabling students to obtain psychological support and professional mental counseling through university guidance units and mental health support centers. These initiatives include awareness sessions, individual and group counseling, and activities designed to alleviate academic and social pressures. Through these efforts, the university seeks to create a supportive and safe educational environment that enhances student well-being and helps them overcome psychological challenges with confidence and balance.
3.3.6. Smoke-free policy
As part of its commitment to implementing national laws and promoting a healthy and safe university environment, Mohamed Cherif Messaadia University – Souk Ahras has adopted a smoke-free campus policy, in accordance with Article 4 of Executive Decree No. 01-285 dated 24 September 2001 (6 Rajab 1422), related to the prohibition of smoking in public places.
This step comes within the university’s efforts to protect students and staff from the harms of direct and secondhand smoking, and to promote a culture of prevention within the campus. The university administration has also launched awareness campaigns on the risks of smoking and its impact on public health, in addition to designating fully smoke-free areas across various faculties and facilities.
Through this initiative, Souk Ahras University reaffirms its strong commitment to implementing national public health policies and contributing to building an aware and responsible generation that helps reinforce sustainable healthy behaviors within and beyond the university community.
3.3.7. Mental health support for staff
To promote psychological well-being within the university community, Mohamed Cherif Messaadia University – Souk Ahras, through its preventive medicine units, provided free psychological support services for its administrative and teaching staff.
This initiative was overseen by a specialized psychologist who received cases and provided individual consultations and professional psychological guidance, ensuring the emotional and mental balance of university staff.
This step is part of the university’s policy aimed at enhancing mental health in the workplace and preventing stress and daily task pressures. The initiative also reflects the institution’s commitment to embodying values of humanity and solidarity by providing a safe and confidential space to support anyone in need of psychological assistance within the university family.
