Content | Teaching objectives This subject aims to introduce students to the importance of forest ecosystems, their functioning and their management Recommended prior knowledge - General ecology, General biology, Plant systematics Content of the material: Introduction (Show the place of forest ecology) I – The forester’s biotope: external environment 1 – The substrate and the climate 2- Topography 3 – Peripheral ecosystems II – The forest ecosystem: components and structures 1- The ground 2- The atmosphere: forest microclimate (light, temperatures, winds, precipitation, air humidity, etc.) 3- Primary producers 4- Epigés consumers – Secondary producers 5- Edaphon and bio-reducers 6- Biocenosis III – Functioning of the forest ecosystem 1- Energy and carbon cycle 2- Circulation of elements 3- Nitrogen and water cycles IV- Action of forest ecosystems on the external environment 1- Action on the outdoor climate 2- Action on erosion and water regime V- Temporal dynamics of the forest ecosystem 1- Dynamics of animal and plant populations 2- Community dynamics VI – Aerial views of forest ecosystems 1- Main forest groups and plant formations in Algeria (coniferous forests, evergreen hardwoods, deciduous hardwoods, steppes) 2- Mapping of forest ecosystems VII- Applications 1 – Choice of species 2 – Choice of cultivation techniques 3 - Layout |
