Content | Education objectives: This standard aims to introduce students to modern Arabic narrative forms, their arts and doctrines, and to identify the methods of their architecture and the forms that build meaning within them. Content of the course: Lecture vocabulary: 1- Factors in the emergence of modern Arabic narrative forms. 2- The development of modern Arabic narrative. 3- Arts of modern Arabic narrative. 4- The Arabic novel, its origins, development and types. 5- Artistic and thematic trends of the modern Arabic novel 6- Pioneers of the modern Arabic novel. 7- The story: its origins, development and types. 8- Artistic and thematic trends of the modern Arabic story. 9- Pioneers of the modern Arabic story. 10- The Arabic play: its origins, development and types. 11- Artistic and thematic trends of modern Arabic play. 12- The art of biography and memoirs. 13- Arab diaries: their origins, development and types. 14- Artistic and thematic trends of modern Arab autobiography, memoirs, and diaries. Application vocabulary: 1- Models from the Arab Renaissance 2- Arabic narrative and overcoming the prohibitions of the beginnings of the Renaissance - 3- Arabic narrative as an extension of the art of poetry and popular biography 4- Badi’a, Fouad and Zainab 5- The realistic/social/political novel 6- Haykal/Al-Kilani 7- Artistic applications 8- The realist and social trend 9- Zakaria Tamer 10- Tawfiq al-Hakim 11- The realist and social trend 12- Taha Hussein / Al-Mazni / Al-Aqqad 13- Applications in available styles 14- The recording trend / intellectual biography Evaluation method: Lectures are evaluated via an examination in The end of the hexagram, while the evaluation of directed actions continues throughout the hexagram.
