Content | Learning objectives: To learn different methods of mapping: photogrammetry, topography, planimetry, bathymetry, projection and stereoscopy, GIS, and remote sensing. Recommended prerequisites: Students should have prior knowledge of geology, cartography, photography, and ecology. Course content: CHAPTER I: CARTOGRAPHY Introduction and definitions Principles of cartography Geographic data Land Use Mapping CHAPTER II: GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS) Introduction and definitions Components of GIS Introduction to GIS software (ArcGIS, Map-Info, etc.) Cartography and Analysis of Geographic Information CHAPTER III: REMOTE SENSING Introduction Basic concepts Image processing Applications of remote sensing Introduction to remote sensing software (ENVI, etc.) Personal work: Application exercises + report Assessment method: Continuous assessment, examination, etc. (Weighting is at the discretion of the teaching team): Examination + continuous assessment Bibliographic References (Books, Course Notes, Websites, etc.): \"Sémiologie graphique: les diagrammes, les réseaux, les Cartes\" by Jacques Bertin, EHESS, 1967 original edition, 2005 4th edition, 452 pages. \"Initiation à la graphique\" by Serge Bonin, EPI, 1975, 172 pages.
