Content | Chapter 1 GENERALITIES AND STANDARDS (2 weeks) General qualities of water from various sources; quality standards; water treatment guidelines; treatment processes Chapter 2. DRINKING WATER PRODUCTION PROCEDURES (5 weeks) - Micro-screening (Theoretical aspects; Duration of use and Criteria for choosing a micro-screen) - Coagulation and flocculation (Suspended particles; Coagulation; Theory of flocculation) - Decantation (Types of decantation, Decantation of discrete and flocculent particles; Tube and lamella decantation) - Flotation (flotation devices, some performances) - Filtration (General information, Characteristics of filtering materials, Water flow in a sand filter, two-layer filter) - Disinfection (General principles; Disinfection by: chlorine, chlorine dioxide, ozone, UV, UV/oxygenated water, etc.) Chapter 3 SPECIFIC DRINKING WATER PRODUCTION PROCEDURES (8 weeks) - Softening by precipitation - Adsorption and ion exchange - Iron and manganese removal (Iron and manganese equilibrium; Iron removal and manganese removal processes) - Water stabilisation - Fluoridation and defluoridation of water - Desalination of seawater and brackish water (Desalination methods: distillation, freezing, electrodialysis, reverse osmosis, etc.) - Advanced oxidation processes (Fenton, Electrofenton, Photofenton, UV/Ozone, UV/ozone/oxygenated water, sonochemistry, photocatalysis, plasma processes, electron gun, etc.) - Swimming pool water treatment (Purposes and treatment techniques) |
