Content | Chapter 1: Measurements, Quantities, and Uncertainties (5 Weeks) Introduction, Quantity, Standard, Unit Systems, Table of Multiples and Submultiples, Dimensional Equations, Useful Formulas, Measurement Accuracy, Measurement Error, Classification of Errors, Uncertainties in Indirect Measurements, Qualities of Measurement Instruments, Calibration of Measurement Instruments, Graphical Symbols of Measurement Instruments, General Measurement Methods (Deviation Methods, Zero Methods, Resonance Methods), Application Exercises. Chapter 2: Measurement Methods (6 Weeks) Voltage Measurements: Direct Methods of Voltage Measurements, Alternating Voltage Measurements, Indirect Method of Voltage Measurement Using Opposition Method. Current Measurements: Direct Method of Current Measurement, Use of Simple Shunt. Resistance Measurements: Classification of Resistances, Volt-Ammeter Method, Zero Method: Wheatstone Bridge, Measurement of Very High Resistances Using the Loss of Charge Method. Impedance Measurements: Capacitance Measurements, Inductance Measurements, Alternating Current Bridges. DC Power Measurements: Fundamental Relation, Ammeter and Voltmeter Method, DC Electrodynamometer Wattmeter. AC Power Measurements: Instantaneous Power and Average Power, Complex Power, Apparent Power, Active Power, and Reactive Power, AC Electrodynamometer Wattmeter, Three-Voltmeter Method for Active Power Measurements, Direct Measurements of Reactive Power, Indirect Measurements of Reactive Power. Phase Measurements: Direct Phase Measurements Using an Oscilloscope, Phase Measurements with Lissajous Figures. Frequency and Period Measurements: Direct Frequency Measurement Using an Oscilloscope, Frequency Measurements with Lissajous Figures, Frequency Measurement Using a Frequency Meter, Frequency Measurement Using a Period Meter, Application Exercises. Chapter 3: Measurement Instruments (4 Weeks) Introduction Analog Measurement Instruments: Classification of Deflection Instruments, Moving Coil Galvanometer, Structure of Magneto-Electric Ammeter, Structure of Magneto-Electric Voltmeter, Operation of AC Electrodynamometer Wattmeter. Digital Measurement Instruments: Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC), Principle of Operation of a Digital Measurement Instrument, Examples of Digital Measurement Instruments (Multimeter, Oscilloscope, ...). Electrical and Electronic Measurements Lab: Lab #1: Resistance Measurement: Perform resistance measurements using the following 5 methods: volt-ammeter method, ohmmeter, Wheatstone bridge, comparison, and substitution. Compare these methods with each other and calculate the errors. Lab #2: Inductance Measurement: Perform inductance measurements using the following 3 methods: volt-ammeter method, Maxwell bridge, resonance. Compare these methods with each other and calculate the errors. Lab #3: Capacitance Measurement: Perform capacitance measurements using the following 3 methods: volt-ammeter method, Sauty bridge, resonance. Compare these methods with each other and calculate the errors. Lab #4: Phase Measurement: Perform phase measurements using the following 2 methods: phasemeter and oscilloscope. Lab #5: Single-phase Power Measurement: Perform power measurements for resistive loads using the following 5 methods: wattmeter, power factor meter, three voltmeters, three ammeters, power sensor. Compare these methods with each other and calculate the errors. Lab #6: Three-phase Power Measurement: Perform power measurements for resistive loads using the following methods: star and delta systems, balanced and unbalanced configurations. |
