Content | ..I. Electrical Substation Architectures (2 weeks) Overview of the electrical grid architecture, equipment, and substation designs (busbar coupling substations, circuit breaker coupling substations), topologies of energy transmission and distribution networks. II. Organization of Electrical Energy Transmission II.1. Energy Transmission Lines (3 weeks) Transmission line calculations: Selection of conductor size, insulation, mechanical calculation of lines, operation of transmission lines in steady-state conditions, operation in transient conditions, energy transmission through direct current (HVDC). II.2. Distribution Networks (2 weeks) Introduction to electrical energy distribution, primary distribution, secondary distribution, distribution transformers, reactive power compensation in distribution networks, distribution reliability. III. Operation of Medium and Low Voltage Networks (3 weeks) Protection of HV/MV substations against overcurrents and overvoltages, models of electrical network elements, voltage regulation, voltage regulation devices, reactive power control in an electrical network. IV. Neutral Systems (2 weeks) Neutral grounding systems (isolated, grounded, impedance grounded), artificial neutral. V. Voltage Regulation (3 weeks) Voltage drop in electrical networks, voltage regulation methods (automatic voltage regulation at generator terminals, AVR, reactive power compensation by traditional and modern means, voltage regulation via autotransformer), introduction to voltage stability. |
