Biography

Professor Dr. Lotfi Zeghadnia is the Head of the Laboratory: Modeling of Socio-Economic and Analysis in Water Sciences (MASESE) at the University of Souk Ahras, Algeria. He holds a Doctorate in Hydraulic Engineering from the University of Annaba (2014) and a Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from the University of Biskra (2016). His academic background also includes a Magistere’s and State Engineering degree from the same institution, complemented by advanced training in computer programming and neuro-linguistic communication.
With over 15 years of teaching and research experience, Pr. Zeghadnia has served in various academic and administrative capacities, including Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology for Graduate Studies, and Chair of the Doctoral Training Committee in Water Resources (2022–2025). He has been a member of multiple scientific councils and international committees, notably the International Association for Water Resources in the Southern Mediterranean Basin (IAWRSMB).
Pr. Zeghadnia’s research focuses on hydrology, water quality, hydraulic modeling, and drought assessment. He has published numerous scientific papers in international journals such as Modelling Earth Systems and Environment (Springer), Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering (ASCE), and Euro-Mediterranean Journal for Environmental Integration. His work emphasizes: Hydraulic engineering questions, sustainable water management, environmental risk assessment, and hydroclimatic variability in arid and semi-arid regions.
He has also participated in several international conferences in France, Algeria, and Tunisia, leading and contributing to research projects related to dam safety, wastewater treatment optimization, eutrophication control, and water quality management. Proficient in Fortran, MATLAB, and hydraulic modeling software such as EPANET and SWMM, Pr. Zeghadnia integrates engineering expertise with advanced data analysis.
Fluent in Arabic, French, and English, he is an active researcher on ResearchGate and Google Scholar, contributing to the advancement of water sciences in North Africa
