Abstract

Monitoring and diagnostics play an essential role in the safe operation and performance
of rotating machinery. They prevent the risk of component failure and increasing their
lifetime. Although often used in industry, periodic vibration analysis is not the best solution to
secure and optimize the operation of lubricated rotating machines, therefore, we try other
methods and monitoring techniques.
This work focuses in part on the technique of oil analysis, and methodology of their
implementation has to know the end of the aging process of in-service lubricants and their impact on the operation of rotating machines lubricated. On the other hand, it presents a study
on monitoring by vibration analysis.
Our subject is intended to characterize the influence of the quality (viscosity) of the
lubricant on the vibration of a component of lubricated rotating machinery. Experimental runs
were made in this direction on a gear device lubricated with lubricants of different viscosity
grades and rotates with a variable speed of rotation, following the evolution of the vibration
and this from the vibration measurements performed using an instrument reliably measure
(Vibrometer PenPlus-SKF).
Following this experience, statistical analysis was developed to verify the normality of
the measurement results. It was established that these results correspond to the distribution by
the law normal of Gauss.
Secondly, a vibration model according to the state change of lubricants has been
developed, based essentially on the results of planned experiments. Then a correlation
analysis on the model obtained was performed and the results show good agreement between
theory and experiment.
