Abstract
The currentworkconcerns a medicinal plant widelyused by indigenousAlgeriansMarrubiumvulgareL. of the lamiaceaefamily, this plant have extraordinarytherapeuticproperties. This researchencompassesseveral aspects: a physicochemicalstudy of the soil, histological and a phytochemicalstudyaimed to assess the content of phenolic compounds, flavonoids and tannins, as well as the antioxidantactivities, antimicrobial and anticholinesteraseactivity of differentextracts of M. vulgare. Through the resultsobtained: Extracts of M. vulagre. were a good source of phenolics and flavonoids. The chemical composition of the twoextracts of M. vulgare. isdetermined by CPG-MSanalysis. The results of the analysisshowedthat the hexane extractstudiedconsistsmainly of 10 compounds while the dichloromethaneextractisessentiallycomposed of 12 compounds. The antioxidantactivity tests alsoshowed good antioxidantcapacity of the extracts.Indeed, from the antibacterialactivityevaluated, itseemsthat the extracts of dichloromethane, acetone and methanol have an undeniableantibacterialactivityaccording to the results of the CMI and CMB obtained on the germ of Bacillus cereus. We have alsotested the effect of the differentextractsagainsttwo phytopathogenic fungistrains by the par touche method. The inhibitoryeffectwere important for the twotestedstrains. On the other hand, the resultsobtainedfollowing the study of anticholinesteraseactivityprovedthat hexane extract has significantantiacetylcholinesteraseactivity. Based on theseresults, itis right to concludethatM. vulgare. is an important source of bioactive compounds withantioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-alzheimerproperties.
