Abstract
The natural resources of the plant kingdom remain a reliable source of funding for the development of new treatments. It is in this context that we were interested in the bioecological study, the inventory of Apiaceae in the Souk-Ahras region, their phytochemical screening, and the evaluation of the antimicrobial activities of essential oils. The study is carried out in 26 sites in the Souk-Ahras region, during the period from December 2018 to July 2019. The results obtained from the ethnobotanical study made it possible to identify 13 medicinal species belonging to the Apiaceae family.
In the regions surveyed, medicinal plants are attracting the attention of women who are more familiar with their value and their therapeutic effects. For the characterization and valuation of the various compounds of the essential oils, we were able to demonstrate that DaucuscarotaL. contains 40 compounds, FoeniculumvulgareMill. 39 Compounds, the Apiumgraveolens24 compounds and Pituranthoschloranthus85 compounds. The phytochemical screening revealed the richness the aqueous extract in tannins, sterols and terpenoids, coumarins, flavonoids anthocyanins, free quinines, C-geoside combined anthracene derivatives, flavonoid free (genin).
The chemical variability of the essential oils showed that the majority constituents of DaucuscarotaL. are Geranylacetate (25.14%), α-Pinene (18.34%), α-Muurolol (9.41%), Elemicin (6.60%), β-Myrcene (4.92%), Sabinene (4.73%), (E)-Asarone (3.99%), β-Pinene (3.27% ). As for FoeniculumvulgareMill. areα-Phellandrene (26.40%), D-Limonene (19.85%), β-Myrcene (11.95%), ɣ-Terpinene (8.18%), Terpinolene (5.06%), β-Phellandrene (4.74%), trans-Piperitone epoxide (2.64%), Myristicine (2.53%). While ApiumgraveolensL. consists of hydrocarbon monoterpenes (D-Limonene at 52.38%) followed by the hydrocarbon sesquiterpene (β-Selinene at 17.28%), Sedanenolide (9.04%), Eucarvone (7.82%) and α- Selinene (3.82%) and 3-butylphthalide (2.61%). For Pituranthosechloranthus, the main components were Apiole (26.63%), Sabinene (9.34%), α-Pinene (7.21%), δ-3-Carene (4.24%),Para-Cymene (4.16%), Terpin-4-ol (3.69%), D-Limonene (3.66%), α-Thujene (2.87%),Spathulenol (2.84%), ɣ-Terpinene (2.68%) and (Z)-Ligustilide(2.48%). The antimicrobial activity of essential oils on pathogenic microorganisms :Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiellapneumoniae, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureusand Fusariumoxysporumf. splycopersici(fol), showed that the oils have a powerful antimicrobial effect.
