Abstract

At the present time, there is a spectacular return to the treatment of medicinal plants (herbal medicine) which is still valid and indicated, but knowing how to make the most of the active ingredients there; this is why it is necessary to know the plants, determined their therapeutic abilities or sensitivities.. In this work we carried out a theoretical and experimental study on two plants used in phytotherapy of the lamiaceae family Oregano and Thyme vulgar , including an anatomical study of the leaves of these two species , the extraction and identification of their essential oils and bacteriological tests (aromatogram). The results revealed the richness of the essential oils of these two species in chemical compounds (thymol and carvacrol) mainly related to the abundance of secreting hairs and a particular metabolism that gives them a powerful antibacterial activity against antibiosensitive and antibiotic resistant strains such as bacteria of the respiratory, digestive and urinary system. (Staphylococcus, Escherichia .Coli, Pseudomonas). .. Keywords:. herbal medicine, lamiaceae (Thyme, Oregano), secondary metabolites, essential oil, aromatherapy, CCM, extraction, aromatogram.
