Abstract
Environmental crimes are one of the most important legal issues facing the world, receiving great and exceptional attention, which has made them classified as a modern-day crime, due to their long-term effects and the serious and devastating violations they inflict in various regions, especially during international and non-international armed conflicts, Considering that environmental crimes are among the most serious international crimes, they are theoretically considered to be at the heart of the issues within the substantive jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, The latter has resolved the existing controversy regarding the legal definition of environmental crimes, according to the decision it issued at the beginning of September 2016, in which it was decided Announcing the extension of the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court to include crimes that harm and destroy the environment as an international crime against humanity.
